Denmark report (K.L. Knudsen)

IMAGES-related scientific interests in Denmark are concentrated on studies in the North Atlantic, but some palaeoceanographic work is being done in the Southern Sea, Cape Basin, as well. North Atlantic studies are focussed partly on changes in the bottom water overflow across the Greenland-Iceland-Faeroe Island Ridge and partly on palaeoceanographical changes of the North Icelandic shelf the, the East Greenlandic shelf and in the Danmark Strait. Correlations with the land stratigraphies in Greenland and in Iceland are important for these studies.

Continued Danish membership (for another 3 year-period from year 2000) will be applied for in September 1999 (expected answer December 1999).
