The Mexican IMAGES comunity continues working in different
paleoceanographic topics in the Mexican Pacific.
In particular, we have been studying the southern end of the
California Current off the Pacific coast of Baja California. We have
recovered laminated sediments from Cuenca San Lazaro, with an
annual-biannual ressolution, comprising the last two centuries. We are
currently working on its micropaleontological and isotopic signals.
On the Gulf of California side, work is going in progress on the high
ressolution sediments of La Paz and Cuenca Alfonso.

We participated in a cruise to the West Pacific coast of Baja California
and the Gulf of California (May 25 to June 2nd) and to the Gulf of
Tehuantepec (June 3-20) to look for prospective sites for the IMAGES
Western Americas Transects in 2001.

We are planning a national meeting on October 25-29 to discuss present
results, and future plans for the group.
